Rhythm Express is a training school and we offer student dance teacher opportunities to those who show choreographic and leadership abilities. TEACHER PROFILES

Miss Clare - FIDTA (Fellow of the IDTA)
I began dancing at the age of two and a half at the Woodman School of dancing in Canterbury in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Disco, Jazz, Contemporary, Character etc.  I left at the age of sixteen after passing many exam's, taking part in competition's, performing in show's and pantomimes (two of which were professional, earning my junior equity card). I continued to dance for pleasure until I was in my late twenty's but what I really wanted to do was teach.

I attained my Freestyle student and associate exams passing both. I loved teaching and since January 2003 have been running my own school of dance called Rhythm Express.

In July of 2003, I choreographed, produced and directed my first show which was extremely successful. Since then I have completed many more shows, held annual summer stage schools both with an end of the week production and more exam sessions again with 100% pass rates. I have also trained other dancers and teachers through their professional exams. In July 2009 I took my fellowship passing with top marks and in December 2009 I passed my associate street with a 98% pass mark.

Miss Laura - associate street dance teacher
I have danced for many years with Rhythm Express and have progressed my way through many amateur exams and been a member of troupe.  I started teaching from the age of 14 and passed my Pre-associate teaching exam in 2014.  After a small break from teaching I returned to the teaching team at Rhythm Express and in July passed my Associate teaching exam with distinction.

Miss Emmie & Miss Becky

- assistant student teachers on the musical theatre team

After many years of being pupils at Rhythm Express in dance and musical theatre Miss Emmie and Miss Becky have now joined the teaching team under the guidance of Miss Clare in the musical theatre classes.

Mr H - trainee pre-associate

I first began dancing at Rhythm Express at the age of 7. Whilst being here I have passed many IDTA examinations, been a member of troupe and the current crew and have been successful in many street dance competitions. I have now completed my first year of teaching and am studying towards my Pre-Associate teaching exam. I will hopefully have many more years to come doing the job I love.

Miss Hannah - AIDTA
I have a passion for dance and a thirst for expanding my dance knowledge. I have studied at Pineapple Studios, Canterbury Christchurch University and Masque Theatre School. I have a B.A. Honours Degree in Performing Arts following three years of Contemporary Dance training and I have worked toward professional level grades in Modern Jazz and Ballet with the I.D.T.A.

My experiences in the Arts include professional choreography, backing vocalist work, performing with a touring theatre company, secondary curriculum teaching, teaching Urban Dance, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Musical Theatre for dance schools and community workshops.

I recently qualified at associate level in street dance with Rhythm Express and am looking forward to working toward further dance teachers qualifications and expanding my subject knowledge further.

Miss Tanya - AISTD, MRAD & AIDTA
I started dancing at the age of 2 and started performing on stage at the age of 3 at the Tivoli School of Performing Arts. I took my first dancing examination at the age of 5 and then continued up the grades in RAD ballet, ISTD modern and tap. The school also performed in local shows, pantomimes and dance festivals which I participated in until I auditioned for stage school at the age 17.

I was offered places at several London stage schools but chose The Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in Sidcup after securing a grant from the KCC. The course ran for 3 years and included all forms of dance tuition along with Associate Teaching Examinations with the ISTD in Tap, Ballet, Modern and National and RAD in Ballet.

When I left college I pursued a career in teaching starting with free lance teaching in London which I did for many years but I have now settled down in Margate with my family where I currently teach at the TSPA in Margate and in addition to this I am very pleased and

excited to be on the team of teachers at Rhythm Express School of Dance teaching

Ballet and Tap.

Troupes & Crews

These classes are more suited to the child that is serious about their dancing whether for career prospects or for enjoyment.

The classes are generally harder and of a more serious nature so behaviour, attitude and commitment is of a great importance.

Pupils enter competitions and shows in London and have their own dances in future shows and displays and take part in any other requested performances if necessary. We also hold work shops from visiting professional dance teachers.

We arrange dance educational trips to London shows and dance events.

Open auditions are held every year in July.

Schools Information

If your school would be interested in holding an extra curricular club in dance or event please contact us to discuss it with you. We have taught regularly or as a one off event at many primary and secondary schools.
